Teaching

Our love for performance is equaled only in our love for teaching.

Along with being performers, we are passionate educators. We understand that Oceanic music, dance, and culture are deeply tied together; how they are re/presented and understood is doubly important. Each of us endeavors to share our knowledge and experience with students and performers in Hawai‘i and beyond to assist in the understanding and appreciating of Pacific Island cultures.

Collectively, we have presented at national and international conferences, conducted workshops and seminars, and taught in high school and university classrooms. In a recent effort of out-reach, Manoa Voices performed in a benefit concert with the band and choir of Kapolei High School. It was an exciting and unique experience to collaborate with these students in the arrangement, rehearsal, and performance of music. These experiences continue to inspire life-long learning and laulima in students and teachers alike.

If you are committed to learning and performing Pacific Island arts, we applaud your efforts, and encourage you to kulia i ka nu`u, to be the best you can be respectfully and responsibly. Manoa Voices welcomes the opportunity to strive toward that summit with you through cultural sharing, instruction, and/or performance. Please contact us for more information regarding workshops and outreach.
